Conditional color fill

How can I get Excel to fill a cell with a color as a
value in an IF statement?

You can't workshet functions can only return values to their calling
cells.

Look at Conditional Formatting in XL Help.

You can't directly, you would need to use conditional formatting to do that, which would not
require a formula inside the cell at all.
