Configure outlook/gmail?

Hi
can someone help please? I want to use outlook for my gmails (obvious
reasons, calender organisation etc)! I have followed the instructions on the
microsoft help and the google help but I am getting an error message. I
think it is the outgoing server port set to 465, it wont connect. Any ideas?

yes, I followed instructions from microsoft and the google help. Could it
have anything to do with my pc being networked with others in the house?
