Connect an empty text box before text flow

Hi,

When connecting text boxes, Publisher forces the second text box to be
empty, so that you can only connect text boxes in a forward direction
in the text flow.

Now, what if I want to add a text box before, or even in the middle of
a text flow, and still keep it connected with the rest of the text? Is
there a workaround? Is there a way to split a text box at any given
point to two connected text boxes?

Thanks.

Assuming No. 1 text box is the beginning... Whenever you break your connection the
text will revert to the first text box. All one has to do is create another text box,
link it with No. 1 again, create another text box and link it with No. 2 and so on.

I can't see the point of adding a new text box before No. 1, if you need that
function, link a text box on a page or space before No. 1. Might read strange...

I'll try to clarify my question with a more concrete example.

Say I have a two-column text box. I want to add text *before* the
existing text box in one column (so I need a new text box), and the
two text boxes to be linked into a single text flow. Now, if I create
an empty, one-column text box, I cannot connect it to the existing
2-column text box so that the text of the latter is flowed after my
new text, since I must connect a text box to an empty one.

So I was wondering if there's an easy workaround to achieve this
result.
