Contact folder changed to message folder

I have a contacts folder (not the default contacts) that suddenly changed to
a standard message folder. As such it is no longer available for as an
address book.

I've gone through the folder properties but can't find a way to redefine the
type as "folder containting contact items" like my other contact folders.

any suggestions?

Did you try starting Outlook once with the /resetfolders command line
switch?
