Contacts not listed when I click Contacts in Nav Pane

Running Outlook 2003. When I click on the Contacts yellow button in the
Navigation Pane, the Contacts page does not appear; whatever is currently
being viewed stays on screen, or the Calendar appears. I can right-click on
the Contact button, select Open in a New windows, and the contacts will
appear in the new window. Also, under My Contacts at the top of the Nav Pane,
Calendar is listed, not Contacts. Also, if I double-click on a contact to
open his datacard and then click on the Address Book button to the right of
the email address, I get an error message "The address lis could not be
displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be
opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions.
For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book,
see Microsoft Office Outlook Help." I have tried a couple of fixes from
online help and the Knowledge Base, but have not been able to correct this
problem. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am thinking of uninstalling
Outlook and then reinstalling it -- might that help? Thanks in advance.

Explain how you migrated your data into this installation of Outlook.
Use Folder List view to verify the correct hierarchy of your Folders.
Reset the Navigation Pane.
