Convert a catalog document in Publisher to PDF file

I created a catalog in Publisher where the pages are 5.5" x 8.5". This
creates 2 pages on an 8.5" x 11" sheet of paper. The catalog in Publisher
creates "reader's spreads" for editing purposes, but prints the pages in
"printer's spreads" for commercial printing purposes. That was great for when
I had my catalog printed, but when I try to make a PDF file, the pages
created are in "printer's spreads" which makes it impossible to read! How do
I create a PDF output in "reader's spreads"?

Create the PDF from Adobe instead of from Publisher.
From Adobe's help:
Choose view, page layout and then choose Singe Page, Continuous, Facing or
Continuous - Facing.
Click the Single Page button, the Continuous button, the Continuous - Facing button,
or the Facing Button in the status bar.

File > Page Setup > Printer and Paper > (Change printer to Adobe PDF here if
you haven't already done so) > Change paper size to 8.5 × 5.5 > Layout >
Full Page > OK > File > Print > OK

I tried that, but it did not work. Even though my page size in Publisher is
5.5" x 8.5" the output is an 8.5" x 11" page, so it seems that Publisher does
not really recognize each smaller page, only the 2-page spread. I could not
find a way to break the document up into the smaller page size instead of
spreads. I gave up and used SnagIt to capture screen images of my "reader's
spreads" in Publisher, then put those into a new document and created a pdf
from that.
Thanks for your help.

I am having the exact same problem but neither of these options worked for
me. I am using the Create Adobe Online tool however. Do I need to own Adobe
Acrobat's full version to get this done? I see the snag it option - anything
else I should consider? Thanks.

I'm not familiar with the "Create Adobe Online" tool - could you tell me
where the steps fail?

When I go to file / page set up / printer and paper and then to select Adobe
- it's not in the drop down box. I only have the options for my printer.
Adobe Online is just an online service from Adobe that lets you upload a doc
to their server and then sends you back a converted file. Since it's not
desktop software I'm assuming that's why I don't have the Adobe option in the
drop down. Does that make sense?

So you're uploading the Publisher file to the Adobe site?

If that's the case, simply change your current printer setup (rather than
selecting Adobe PDF) to the settings indicated and then the Publisher page
setup to Full Page.

That was it. I had tried that before but stupidly -- I selected -- allow
Publisher to change design elements and I got a mess. So - based on the below
I went back and tried it again and skipped that option. This worked great!!
Thank you so much.

No problem, thanks for posting back with your results :)
