Excel Auto-Convert my Text to Date

Hi!,
When I enter a text (in this format 1-10) excel convert this to 1 Jan. Is there a way that I can prevent excel to auto-convert my text format(e.g 1-10) to date format (1 Jan) ?

Format your cell as Text before making the entry.

Alternatively, prefix your entry with an apostrophe (') - it won't show
in the cell.
