I am having trouble opening files with the extensions ".dat" and ".mdb"

I'm sorry to hear that but this newsgroups deals with an application
called Project (which generally uses the extensions .mpp or .mpt).

The extension .mdb is normally associated with a database application
called Microsoft Access. So you either need to install Access or an
Access reader in order to be able to access those files. If you have
such an application and the extension is correctly associated with the
application then you need to go to a newsgroup dealing with Access to
discuss the cause of the symptoms you are experiencing.

The extension .dat is used by a wide variety of applications. You need
to determine which application you want to use to open the file, ensure
it is installed and correctly associated with the extension type.
Again, for further assistance you need to find a forum which deals with
that application.
