I copied microsoft office from one of my existing computers to a disk and
then tried to install it on my new laptop. Whenever I try to open any of the
applications, it says that the system is not properly configured ???

Installing Office puts several items in the registry as well as some
files into the Windows\system32 folder (and other places). Simply
copying the \program files\office folder will not "move" office to
another computer. You need to do a full reinstallation. On the plus
side, if you do the install after copying the files, it "should" keep
any customizations that you've made to Office.

Copying Office application files to a disk isn't the same as using the
installation files to install it.

Basically, what you did won't work. You need to find your Office
installation CDs.

That's because the system is not properly configured. If you have a
retail version of Office, insert the install disc in the laptop and
install Office so the system WILL be properly configured.
