Copied/Pasted objects move/reformat pre-existing objects

My workplace recently upgraded from Windows NT to a Windows 2000 LAN. I
think the version of OFFICE is still the same, but Powerpoint has been acting
strange. Whenever I paste a new object (usually a picture) into a slide with
pre-exisiting objects, ALL objects are moved - usually into proportionally
spaced areas about the screen. Often, pictures are resized (even the aspect
ratio). This is extremely frustrating - I have to move and reformat
everything. How do I turn off this feature - so the new objects pastes
normally into the center of the slide?

Go to Tools > Autocorrect Options > AutoFormat as you Type and uncheck
"Automatic layout for inserted objects".
