Copying From workbook to workbook

Hi, it's really annoying when you have a nicely formated report and then you
copy and paste it to another workbook and you loose the formatting. Is there
any way to avoid this?

Have you tried Copy, Edit, Paste Special, and select Value and Number
formats ?

Thanks for your reply Carole, but not exactly sure what you mean. I've tried
the Paste Special but I can only choose one option either 'format' or 'value'
I usually leave it at the default which is 'all' but I loose formats such as
column width, wrap, etc.

Highlight the columns where the report is included and then copy paste all.
The column widths etc. should remain intact.

When you have copied your data, just paste normally first time round
ignoring any errors, then paste again using paste special as values.

I've highlighted the columns and then used copy, then pasted all and it still
doesn't retain the column width, etc.
Any other suggestions?

What are the exact ranges you are copying from and to?

Is the destination sheet identical to the source sheet in structure?

A1:L243 is the range I'm copying. I first tried copying by first
highlighting by using the highlight all but next to column A and above column
1. I also tried just highlighting the columns by highlighting across the
cell letters and highlighting the exact range neither worked.

If you select the bit you mentioned which is above 1 and left of A and then
hit copy, then select the same place in the detsination sheet and hit paste,
all the formatting should take, including column widths etc. Now just paste
special with values and the data should be right also.
