Copying Master and Subprojects

I'm seeing some wierd things happening when I copy a master schedule and
subprojects (located in separate subfolders), as an archive/working folder
while keeping the original untouched. Each case I'm copying the master
schedule and subprojects into another set of subfolders.

After performing this copy: a majority of the times (but not always), the
link of the subprojects in the master schedule (in the new (copied) location)
is pointing back to the original location, not the new subfolder.

Any ideas of what is going on?

Thank you in advance.

If you move linked projects from their original location folder to a new one,
the links need to be updated with the new folder location. Project does not
auto-update these links when moving project files around like that.

Thank you for the answer. I could swear that I've seen this work.

Do you know any tricks for updating the links? At this point I'm planning
to open a "subprojects" column and reconnect the links.

Thanks again.

Hi mdconvert,
Select the line item in the master where the subproject is located. Right
click. Select hyperlink.

When working with linked files, it is better to keep them all in the same
folder. If you must keep them in separate folders, and want to move them or
make copies, close Project, select the entire set of files and folders and
drag the entire set to the new location. Depending on the location, the
default may be move; look for a "+" if you want to make a copy.
