Correct address in mail merge

When I merge from an excel spreadsheet for envelopes into Word 2000, the
address always has a comma and space before the city and the zip code is
missing????

I'd say you must be inserting the field codes in the incorrect order. Try
setting up the merge again, in a new document, via Tools/Mail merge Helper.
