Correct Duration

I have a "task" which is represented by a ship sailing from port a to
port b.

It will leave port a on 19/5/5. The voyage is 30 days. I would like
Project to display the length of the task "correctly". I have entered
duration in project as 30 days.

The task will take exactly 30 days it is not effort driven and the ship
will not arrive early or late. I have assumed the task will run every
hour of the day since the ship is always working as it is sailing from
a to b.

I have tried to use various settings in the calanders available in
project but cannot get it to display the proper end date - which is 30
"real" calander days after 19/5/5. Project seems to grossly over
estimate the end date.

Any help on how to get the correct end date would be appreciated.

Hi XXX,
Try setting the duration of the task to 30 ed. The "e" stands for elapsed
time and will reflect 30 twenty-four hour periods from start to finish.
Duration entered without the "e" always counts working time as defined in
the project calendar.

Hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Hi,

If you enter the ship as a resource, it is sufficient to declare all seven
days as working days in the ship's working time.
