corrupt templates

Well, I sent my screenshots to the creators of the
template and they are stumped. They know basically nothing
about FP2000. The template was made with Photo Shop 7 and
thats all they know about. I'm really hoping someone here
can help me. My dilemna is this ...

I downloaded a template from Template Monster. I imported
it into FP 2000. For a day or 2 everything looked fine.
Seems the problem happened when I looked at one of the
form validations and got an error message "The control's
name is not a valid identifier for scripting languages.
Consequently, any script that Front Page generates may not
work correctly." etc. I clicked on cancel and then the
entire page went corrupt on me. Seems the tables got froze
and out of alignment. The strange thing is when I preview
it it looks fine, but when I try to work on it the page is
all messed up. I tried deleting the web and importing the
template again (I deleted the web correctly btw) and every
time i do this the web shows up in the same corrupt
fashion, making it real hard to work on.

Is there anything i can do to fix this problem? I paid
$90.00 for this template and would hate not to be able to
use it!

Thanks in advance!
Gabe

Try in Html / Code view getting rid of all the inline styles
- like style="padding-left:20px;padding-right:20px "
- and style="overflow-x:hidden" from the BODY tag
Plus your 2 buttons that are not on a form like
<INPUT style="FONT-SIZE: 11px; WIDTH: 100px; FONT-FAMILY: Tahoma; HEIGHT: 20px">

IMHO I'd ask for my money back

Hi,

I tried that just now and no change. there seems to be a
spacing between the last text paragraph on the page and
the search buttons. Also everything below the search
buttons seems to cascade as a background repeating the
images 3 times each. As far as a refund, well, I've asked
for one last week but Temnplate Monster refuses to give
one even after I sent them the screenshots proving I am
having a major issue with thier template :(

Mr B

Did the site say that it would work in FP? if it did, and it doesn't, and you paid via Credit Card (which I hope you did), then you can call your CC company and dispute the charges if it comes to that. Especially since they can offer no support at all

One thing you could try is to install it on a new blank web and see exactly what you do right before it dies on you. Might help narrow it down...

I opened this in FP2003 and it looked OK to me. However, when I
started to erase and enter text, various page elements did slip out of
alignment. For example, changing the text under the H and T buttons
caused the paragraphs to get wider or narrower, but the H and T
buttons didn't move correspondingly.

I'm inclined to think that this template, despite its glitz, is just
hard to work with. It makes you adjust your styles whenever you adjust
your content.
