Cost Report

Dan

I would like to create two simple cost reports (1) by resource type and (2)
by timephase

Project Task Resource 1 Resource 2 Resource 3 Resource 4
Project
Task 1 Cost Cost Cost
Cost
Task 2 Cost Cost Cost
Cost
Task 3 Cost Cost Cost
Cost
Total Total Total
Total

Project Task Month Month Month Month
Project
Task 1 Total Total Total
Total
Task 2 Total Total Total
Total
Task 3 Total Total Total
Total
Grand Total Grand Total Grand Total
Grand Total

Optimally I could get this breakdown according to a hierarchy of
tasks...meaning that where I used "Project" above would actually refer to
level one in the hierarchy and "task" would be anything below the level 1. I
am using one file to house multiple mini projects.

Any help with this would be immensely appreciated.

Hello Dan,
Have you tried the Resource Usage View ?
View / Resource Usage
Right Clik in a yellow cell to check the Cost field instead of the work
field
NB : You can modify the timescale : Years and Months instead of Weeks and
Days

Dan,

You can creat the second report -- time phased distribution of task costs by
using View - Task Usage view. For Grant totla you will need to display the
project summary ( Tools - Options - View -- Show Prohject Summary Task). The
grand total for each month will be displayed against the project summary.
When you swicth to the task usage view, right click in theyellow cell pane
and select Cost to display costs.

I am pretty sure that you cannot generate the first report in the format
that you need. What you want is a task report where the cost of each
assignment is displayed in a separate column and not lumped together. What
you can from resource usage view is:

Name Cost
Task1 <task cost - grand total for task>
Resource1 <res1 cost>
Resource2 <res2 cost>
Task2
Resource1 <res1 cost>
Resource3 <res3 cost>

Hoe this helps
