Counter stopped Working

T

Thomas Grassi

To ALL

Just setup my Windows XP Pro computer with IIS and Frontpage 2003 using SQL
2000 Developer as a database. I was on Windows 2000 Professional and the
counter was working fine.

Now that I have everything on My Windows XP Pro workstation and can not get
the counter to work.

I tried removing the counter then adding it back but it only displays a "1"
everytime I hit the page. I also can not find a .cnt file

What can I do to get the counter to work?

Any ideas or thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Tom

I found the _Private folder was hidden and read only so I changed it so it was not read only and it still only displays a one

What am I doing wrong?

Re: Counter stopped WorkingYou need to change the permissions for the _private folder on the server,
not your local copy.

Try doing a Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks. If that doesn't make it
work, remove the counter save the page and reinsert it. Now FP should be
able to add the needed files to the _private folder.

Re: Counter stopped WorkingTo All

I tried changing the permissions but it keeps going back to Read Only.

I totally removed the hit counter saved the file and tested it with out the counter and it displayed ok. Then I added the counter back in save it again and then the same thing happened only "1" appears.

I even deleted the _private folder and then added the counter back in and the folder appeared and was read only so I changed it and then it went back to read only.

The other problem is it takes about 1 to 1.5 minutes to display the counter number "1" is that any indication of what the problem might be?

Please remember that all of this is on one computer not a server. My computer runs SQL 2000 Developers and IIS 5.1 with Frontpage 2003 this is all on a Windows XP Pro SP2 Dell Deminsion 3000 with 1GB memory and 120 GB of storage.

Any ideas thanks
