Counting Formatting

Is there a way to count formated cells like shaded cells
and come up with a total. Countif doesn't work with
formatting to my knowledge.

Will this work for simply counting, like counta, for a
color filled cell?

No, using the formula shown it can be extended to sum that values in those
cells, or other cells, as well.
