Country fields

I have built a plan, with tasks that I have assigned to countries. I.e. task
1 could for example be assigned to Italy, and Ireland, because it affects
those two countries. I have created a field COUNTRY which I use to enter that
information. The problem is that I enter “ITALY; IRELAND†and when I filter
the tasks by country, I get a subset which is grouped under the heading
“ITALY; IRELANDâ€.
I would like that task 1 to show up under a group called “ITALY†and under
another one called “IRELANDâ€.
How can I achieve this?

Pierre,
Are you grouping or filtering or a combination of the two? It sounds
like you are using the grouping feature. If both countries are entered
in a single spare field, that's how Project will group them - as a pair.
In order to get individualized groupings by country, each country will
need to be entered into a separate spare field (i.e one field for Italy,
another field for Ireland, etc.).

Hi Pierre,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

Create a new filter for each country where the field COUNTRY contains, for
example, Italy.

You might like to have a look at my series on Microsoft Project in the
TechTrax ezine, particularly #22 on using filters, at this site:

(Perhaps you'd care to rate the article before leaving the site, :)
Thanks.)

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

Thank you for your answer! Further question: rather than creating a filter
for each country, how could I enter the name of the country (variable), and
have the filtering function use that variable?
