Re-installing and repairing do not touch the things that cause the most
problems in Word, so rarely achieve anything useful.
Does the problem go away if you start Word in its safe mode? ie start with
Winword /a

If it does, then rename normal.dot to oldnormal.dot, temporarily remove any
add-ins from the Word and office start-up folders. Disable Norton AV's
office plug-in and reset the data key in the registry. This will give you as
near as possible the install condition.

See http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm and (for the data
key) http://www.gmayor.com/my_toolbars_are_missing.htm

Problems with the Symbol, Font, Style, Paragraph, Page Setup, and Print
dialogs often indicate a damaged printer driver. Try deleting and
reinstalling the printer, preferably with an updated driver from the
manufacturer's Web site.
