Create a simple field

All I want to do is create a template (.dot) that has several different
shaded areas/fields as a reminder to fill in the info. I have done this
several times in the past, but can't seem to recall how. I know it is rather
simple. Ctrl+F9 opens up a dialog box and I"m not sure that this is what I
did before, or what type of field I want.

Any suggestions? I don't want any brackets or anything in the field--just a
plain grey box.

It sounds like you're wanting to add a Text Form Field from the Froms
toolbar.

Hi Paul,

You could use a MACROBUTTON field - which is what your use of Ctrl-F9 suggests you were thinking of.

To do this:
.. press Ctrl-F9 to create the field
.. type 'MACROBUTTON NoMacro Please type here' between the field braces, so that you get '{MACROBUTTON NoMacro Please type here}'
.. press F9 to update.
