Creating a preato from a group of data choosen from a pivot chart

I am a novice at excel so please help.

I am trying to display an assembly line's downtime graphically. I current
have columns of data. Date, Machine, Min, detail, 4M(man, material, method,
machine), shift. I currently have a pivot chart to show the entire line
downtime per machine. But I am wanting the top three of the pivot chart be
broken down in another pivot chart or regular chart by the Machine, Min,
Detail. I have set the cells in the pivot chart equal to a cell out side of
the pivot chart to basically copy the top 3 positions. I need these top
three machine names to be filtered out of a data base and then graph the
detials(why the machine was down) and how long in a chart.
