Creating Macros / Automating Tasks

I include many files and emails in my notes. Is there a way to automate
this task? For example, I insert text from a file for different reasons
(canned status answers). I need to insert file, find it and select insert
as text. Can I automate this and similar tasks so when I click on a button
the text is entered.
