Creating my own template

I want to be able to create my own slide background (a background colour with
a picture of my choice in the top corner) and have it the default slide for
the whole presentation. Can anyone tell me how to do this??

Steve,

You need to put the picture on something called the "slide master"

to view the slide master in powerpoint do this...

view menu > masters > slide master

Anything that is on the slide master will be shown on all your slides.
