Creating new page

F

Frank

Is it possible to encode the htm page internally, so when it will open it
will be shown without toolbars at the top (preferable not any icons or
menus) and without Favorites frame on the left?
How can be that done?

T

Thomas A. Rowe

No.

You would have to have a link that open the page in a new window created via JavaScript in order to
disable the toolbars and menus.

If you feel your current issue is a results of installing
a Service Pack or security update, please contact

If the problem can be shown to have been caused by a
security update, then there is usually no charge for the call.

F

Frank

Thank you.
The problem I am facing is, that I am NOT calling that page from the html
link.
I am starting that page from within my visual basic application using Shell
statement:
ShellExecute(Me.hwnd, "Open", "IExplore.exe", App.Path &
"\options_help.htm#GENERAL", App.Path, vbNormalFocus)
Frank

T

Thomas A. Rowe

Since this is really not a FP related question, suggest that you post to the appropriate VB
newsgroup.

F

Frank

Easy to say.
It is not VB newsgroup problem. It is Front Page news problem, because the
page in question is htm and it is created in Front Page, not visual basic!!!
Frank

T

Thomas A. Rowe

But you are trying to launch the page with VB, not as a normal html page being loaded in a browser.
You only have 2 choices for creating a window, a normal browser window by browsing to the site's URL
or a popup window controlled by JavaScript.

Maybe there are some command prompt parameters for IE controlling how

Frank

Then you need to post to the IE newsgroup.

Thank you.
I checked that and I hate it!!!
I remember visiting some websites displaying page in "kiosk" mode. It will
not let do anything like: closing it, browsing back etc.
What I need is a "mini" kiosk mode, resizable window.
Maybe I need too much???? :)

Look into: modal dialog

A modal dialog has no toolbar, and only an x button.
Takes a bit of javascript to make it work.

Not sure about browser compatibility though.

The only way to open IE in kiosk mode is by entering: iexplore -kiosk
in start run, or in a command window at: driveletter:\Program Files\Internet
Explorer

This is as you called, in house display.
I am using html page to display explanation (kind of help) about options my

I like using hyperlinks and the bookmarks, html page can offer.
It is bundled with the software

Ok if it's an application that is going to run on a client and not from the
web,
use the windows shell to open IE in kiosk mode with the initial page as the
file for IE to open

What language is your application written in??

You should be able to use it to create a small console style executable ( no
gui ) to launch IE using ShellExecute and launch the initial executable
using an autorun.inf file on the cd. ( assuming your application is
distributed via CD )

Or, Google for "Microsoft HTML help workshop"
It's free and what a lot of people used to compile the help files include
with their applications.
The ones with the index and table of contents.

This is as you called, in house display.
I am using html page to display explanation (kind of help) about options
my application offers.
I like using hyperlinks and the bookmarks, html page can offer.
It is bundled with the software

Is this for a public website, or an in house display of some sort??

Thank you.
I checked that and I hate it!!!
I remember visiting some websites displaying page in "kiosk" mode. It
will not let do anything like: closing it, browsing back etc.
What I need is a "mini" kiosk mode, resizable window.
Maybe I need too much???? :)

| Ok if it's an application that is going to run on a client and not from
the
| web,
| use the windows shell to open IE in kiosk mode with the initial page as
the
| file for IE to open
|
| What language is your application written in??
|
| You should be able to use it to create a small console style executable
( no
| gui ) to launch IE using ShellExecute and launch the initial executable
| using an autorun.inf file on the cd. ( assuming your application is
| distributed via CD )
