Creating Staggered Bar Charts

Does anyone know how to create a staggered bar chart in
excel that has multiple bars for the same Y value across
the day? e.g.

Car 1 XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXX
Car 2 XXXX XXXXXX

You need to make a stacked bar chart, with one series for each bar and
each gap that exist in the stack. Your little sketch below would require
five gaps and five bars, or ten series (assuming the XXX for Car 1 is
offset from the axis). Each data value states the size of the individual
gap or bar.

So the data would look like this:

Gap Bar Gap Bar Gap Bar Gap Bar Gap Bar
Car 1 3 4 4 8 3 6 1 4 1 7
Car 2 7 4 6 6 0 0 0 0 0 0

Make a stacked bar chart with the series in columns (Excel will want to
do it by rows since it's 2 rows by 10 columns). Make the gaps into gaps
by formatting them to have no border an no fill, and give all the bars
the same format.

To apply the same formats to several series, format the first, then
select the next one to get the same format, and press the F4 key to
repeat, then select & F4 etc, until it's done.
