Critical path in Master Project

Q

Questioner

Hi,

I like to know what is the function of "Calculate multiple critical paths"
in Tools -> Option -> Calculation tab.
As much as I understand when I have a master project with sub projects and
the check box of "Calculate multiple critical path" is cleared, the critical
path will be calculated for the master and one path will be presented (unless
there is more than one with same duration).
When "Calculate multiple critical path" is checked a critical path should be
presented for each independent sub project? I tried it with two sub projects
in the master and sometimes I got two paths, sometimes one and I didn't
understand what is the logic of it. Can someone please explain it to me?

Thanks in advance!

Calculate multiple critical paths will highlight the chain of tasks leading
to ANY task which does not have a successor. If they are all tied to a
single finish milestone you will have one critical path.
