Frank Martin

When trying to print 2-colour labels with an OKI 5100n printer, an error
message is produced:
"The instruction at "0x77f580dd" referenced memory at "0x00ffffca". The
memory could not be "written". Click on OK to terminate the program"Please
help, Frank

Try renaming the printer to 8 characters or less and that should fix it.

If not, update your printer driver.

Was my file to much for your printer?

Alas I havn't received your file. I have just changed my email address and
adjusted my rules to filter in instead of out, and so in may have gone
astray. I will email it to you, for another try.

Many thanks for the replies. I am using WindowsXP with the latest
Publisher. The problem occured when I was trying to print a multicoloured
and complex label to the latest OKI 5100n colour printer, when that error
message appeared, and when I pressed "OK" all the printer drivers
disappeared or would not work! I fixed it by switching off all the printers
connected to my machine, the OKI, a Fujitsu, a Seikosha, and a HP3100, and
then cold booting the computer at least 3 times. I sure got a fright and I
may start that complex label from scratch again. I have all the latest
drivers, the OKI one recently downloaded from the net.

Frank if you are talking about the file I sent you, that was not complex for
Publisher or any printer. It may look so, but is actually straight forward.

Frank I take it these printers are on a network?

Are you using the Publisher file on your local computer or is it on a
network server? If it is on a network server, *ALL* Publisher files must be
on the local hard drive. Publisher files will go corrupt and you will have
all sorts of problems if the Publisher files are on a network server.
Publisher is not a network application or network friendly in any way.

Also make sure your printer drivers names are 8 characters or less with no
spaces.
After re-naming them, re-boot your computer.

I have only one computer and the printers are connected to this. Only the
colour OKI C5100n is called a "network printer" But I have never had trouble
with it before.
The printer connections are:
OKI 5100n: USB02
Jetsuite: DiskLocalPort
Laserjet3100: Laserjet port.
Epson LQ2500(emulated): LPT3 port
Seikosha(FX100emulated): LPT2port
I will check to see if the drivers' names have 8 letters or less, but where
can I find these names?

I did not receive the file you sent; I don't suppose you could send it to
this NG please?
Regards, Frank

Frank, no kidding I put *HEAPS* of work and my expertise in marketing and
sales into it for you, complete with all instructions how to do it again -
PROPERLY. It looks *BLOODY* awesome and will sell more than you can
produce.

No, I cannot post it here. What is your new e-mail address and I will
re-send it.

Start > Settings > Printers and Faxes and re-name them to 8 characters or
less and re-boot.

Probably would not hurt to get rid of some of the garbage you have connected
to that computer. What the hell are you stuffing around with an antique
LQ2500 and Seikosha - UNBELIEVABLE
You could buy and run a Kyocera FS1010 laser printer for a cheaper price
than the consumables for those antiquated dogs you have there.

Those two printers are very old, but I plan to replace them next year with
OKI models. I need the dot-matrix type for the multipart stationary, and I
need two of these printers because it is far easier, cheaper and more
flexible to have two dot-matrix printers each with two-part paper than one
printer with 4-part paper. One printer for delivery dockets, and one for
invoices. My new eemale address is fm-at-general.com.au but you will have to
put mspublisher in the 'from' line to be filterered in.
Kind regards, Frank

I'm afraid it hasn't arrived yet. Can you tell me the content of your
"subject" line so as to filter you in that way. When I put MS in the "from"
line I was flooded with fake-microsoft spam!

Frank, I am going away now for a week. I would be gone, but the bloody
plane the charter company sent did not have the correct avionics fitted. I
am just waiting for another thirty to forty minutes while they fit them, and
I am off for at least a week, and will not be back till Sunday. I will
probably fly out again on Monday for another week. Hopefully I can pull
this job back on track within two weeks and I can get out.

Frank spam filters are XXXXXXX useless and more trouble than they are worth.
Looks like you missed out on some brilliant selling artwork, or you will
have to wait till I get back. Last time I sent it to two e-mail addresses:
(e-mail address removed)
(e-mail address removed)

So now, that is three times I have sent it. God alone knows how your
customers or potential customers get in touch with you
You can spend more time with spam filters than deleting the spam, and into
the bargain, missing out on quality e-mail.
