Custom Fields on Timesheet for Administrative Time

G

We have created custom field for a operation code for tasks. This is set by
the project manager and it shows up on the timesheet for the task. This is
all fine. We also have operation codes for administrative time that we need
to send to our billing system. A user can select the operation code on the
time sheet for administrative time and save it. The question is can you set
a default value for this field for each administrative time tasks?

Gary:

I can't think of a way to do this through the interface, field defaults
apply to fields, not line items they apply to. But, it seems to me that
depending on how you intend to extract this data from the system, you can
certainly infer these values rather than forcing the user to select them
simply because these are static. So if you were using code to extract the
information, you can certainly detect their types and names in the database
and do the code population on the back end. Just a thought.

Gary,

Thanks for the response. What you propose was what we also came up with.
Just looking for any other ways that might also work.
