Custom task status catagories

When I create a task I can set the status to

Not started
In Progress
Completed
Waiting on someone else
Deferred

Is there any way to customise this list to suit my needs by either changing
the above or even better adding new options?

Click on View in the toolbar and select customize current
view. This will bring up a box where you can customize
all sorts of things in task including creating your own
options

Using the technique that you describe, is there a way to change the values that "status" will take on?

I too have been unable to find this information...you would think that it would be easy. But I've spent way too much time trying to figure this one out. The suggestion made here wasn't of any help. Does any one else have any ideas? I would like to add a status...such as Proofing....but alas, I can't find out where to customize this feature.
