Custom Type fields "Work Hrs and Material"

Is there a way to add a custom field to break out the "work" hrs into types?

All hre calculated on a task are generalized as work hrs. I would like to
breack them dowm to Vacation, Travel and task hrs?

Also, Can you break down Material "Types" further and add a Max quanity of
material that gets depleated? ie. You have 8 widgets and assign 2 to a
task, that leaves 6. When all are almost assigned I need to be flagged to
order more.

okie2000,
First of all let me clarify a few things.

It's not obvious by your post if you are distinguishing between duration
hours and work hours. Duration is the time span during which a task is
performed. Work is the effort put forth by one or more resources to
accomplish that task. For example, travel, if shown explicitly, would
probably be designated as duration time. The work content associated
with that travel is performance effort on a normal task.

Vacation, sick leave or other extended off-time is normally not shown on
a schedule at all. Rather, those times are integrated into a resource's
working calendar as non-working time. If for some reason you DO show
them on the schedule, they should already be on their own task line.

Given the above, the hours in the Work field already shown performance
effort. The other items are not work at all.

With regard to material resources, Project does not provide for max
units of material. You consume what you consume. This may or may not be
changed in future versions of Project. In the meantime you could
exercise good project management and "manage" the material usage or if
you want to go a step farther, you could develop some VBA code to run a
check that flags material usage.
