Custom View Problem

I have a Gantt Chart that depicts the following (keep in mind I work in a
school district). The Local District, the schools under that district (as
Summary Task), the work being done at the schools (shown as Subtasks), Start
Date, Finish Date, Board Member (Stakeholder for that school) Funding
Source, Project Cost, and Duration. I have created a Custom View putting the
schools in their district and sorted the same as the Gantt except I cannot
get the View to depict the Board Members sorted in Alphabetical Order by
District, Summary Tasks, and subtasks. The view is where I want it to be
with teh exception of the Board Member Alphabetical ordering.

Does anybody have an idea on how to complete this view?

If I understand you properly, you may choose to group by (Project > Group By)
school, district, etc., then sort by Board Member.

You may have to create a couple of custom fields depicting school and/or
district to get that to work.

You'll have to play w/ the exact combination of variables, but that might
solve your problem.

Thanks JDM,

I'm still having trouble; when I use the Group function to put all Schools
belonging in a given District I loose the Alphabetical order gained through
the previous steps. I am trying to seperate the Districts by using the cell
background feature in the Group while maintaining the alphabetical order of
the Board Members. Any ideas?

Hi,

Soory I am completely at a loss here.
The advice I gava AFAIK oes exactly what you ask for in your first memo.
Now all of a sudden there is grouping in the game.
From what I understand it is then Group by

Board Member first
Outline number second

Hi,

I can manipulate the Gantt to Alphabetize the Board Members while still
showing the Summary Tasks (Schools) and the subtasks in proper order,
perfect. Now the hard part. When I try to group the Summary Tasks (Schools)
into their respective Districts (there are 7) I loose the aphabetical order
of the Board Members. I was using Grouping to easily see where the Districts
begin and end. All the information is correct with the exception of the
Board Members being alphabetized within the District, Any ideas? Sorry for
the confusion.
