Customizing PWA Views

Kevin Flanagan

I have several questions that I could use some help with
about customizing the look o fthe PWA views>

1) Is it possible to get only the short date to display
versus the long date that is the default?
2) Can you customize the column headings by either
changing the names or having it display in two rows
instead of one?
3)Is there any way at all, even customizing the ASP code,
to get rid of the start and finish fields from being
displayed?
4)How can I permanently change the width of the columns
in the PWA views?

Thanks,

Kevin

1. You can display the short date format on either the Tasks page or the
Resource Assignments page by clicking the View Options tab and then
deselecting the "Show time with date" checkbox. By default, the date format
for Project Center and Project views is the long date format, with both date
and time displayed, and cannot be changed.

2. Column headings in PWA cannot be edited by the user in any of the views,
nor can the column headings be set to "wrap" in PWA the way that they do in
Microsoft Project 2002.

3. The Start and Finish fields are mandatory and are displayed by default,
and thus, they cannot be removed.

4. The definition for each View in PWA does not include the option to
specify column widths, the way that column widths can be specified for Table
definitions in Microsoft Project 2002. The first time a View is displayed
by a user in PWA, the user can then set column widths for each column, and
the column widths should remain when the user navigates away from the View
and then returns.

Hope these answers help, even if they are not what you hoped to hear.

Thanks Dale, I was afraid you would say most of this. :0)

Can we customize the actual ASP page to incorporate the
code that changes the date format such as on the Task
page?

Good question, Kevin. I believe that a number of people in this newsgroup
have struggled with customizing the ASP page for the Task page, but without
much luck. I'd like to ask other members of the group to comment if they
have attempted this, whether they have had success or not.
