Cut and paste from Web / Highlight shortcut / Easier titles / Outl

A couple of things I'd like to see changed/added:

* When cutting and pasting from Web pages, OneNote loses the separation
between paragraphs. And because there's no indentation of the first line, the
paragraphs run together and are much harder to read. Can OneNote keep the
separation between paragraphs just as it was on the original Web page when
cutting and pasting?

* I mark up documents with yellow highlighting a lot. But there doesn't seem
to be a keyboard shortcut to highlight text, so I have to use the mouse,
which I find slower and less convenient.

* It'd be nice to be able to select some text in a note and make that the
title with a keyboard shortcut, instead of having to type a new title each
time.

* With the outline, it'd be nice if when you move the top level, all the
lower levels move with it. As it is now, you have to manually select all the
lower levels to move them.

Ctrl-Shift-H is the shortcut for Highlighting

As for making a title via the keyboard, its a request we're aware of. Its
not perfect, but in the meantime you can select the text and use Ctrl-Shift-P
to adjust font size.

I'm not sure what you mean by your last comment though.

missed it.

I'll try again on my last comment. Say you have an outline:

Level 1A
Level 1B
Level 2
Level 2
Level 3

I want to move Level 1B, and all of its subordinate levels, above level1A. I
can put my cursor on level 1B and using the keyboard shortcut move it above
level 1A, but the subordinate levels don't move with it. Logically, they
should, since they're a subset of Level 1B. But instead, to move them, I have
to select them all first, then move them above level 1A. Hope that's clearer.

And any thoughts on preserving space between paragraphs on a web cut and
paste?

You may be able to achieve what you're looking for using the Outline Element
(OE) handles.

They are the little blue boxes that appear whenever you move over a piece of
text in an outline. You can drag those around to rearrange outline structures
and they preserve the hierarchy.

So with your list:
Level 1A
Level 1B
Level 2
Level 2
Level 3

Drag the OE handle of Level1B (its on the left) above Level 1A and Level 1B
and all of 1B's subordinates will follow it. One neat little feature is that
you can compress an element's subordinates by double clicking its OE handle.

As for preserving space in web clippings, provide a us a link to the page
for an example so we know exactly what the problem is. Not sure if we can do
anything about it for this release, but the input is much appreciated.

Thanks for the tip on the handles, but it's not so convenient as being able
to do it with the keyboard, since typically with an outline you're doing a
lot of moving of sections back and forth.

As for the spacing between paragraphs, it's really any Web page that uses
<p></p> to separate paragraphs, which is to say almost all Web pages. For
example, this NYT article:

If I cut and paste it into OneNone, the between-paragraph spacing is lost,
so each page runs together, and since there's no first line indentation, it's
difficult to tell where one paragraph ends and another begins. It's hard for
me to understand how that isn't a basic useability issue. Worse, there's no
search and replace in OneNote, so you can't even add extra paragraph spacing
that way, so I'd have to do it in another program first, then add it to
OneNote. Surely this isn't a difficult fix. This doesn't happen when I cut
and paste into Word (not to mention that in Word you can indent the first
line, and do search and replace).

The loss of paragraph formatting when doing a select-drag-drop from IE into
OneNote 2007 is really driving me nurtz. As Bartolome notes, any article
page from NY Times gets trashed. I am now pasting the text into Notepad,
then copy/paste into OneNote in order to keep paragraph formatting, but...
argggh.
