Dashes

Every time I try to make a dash, Publisher makes a hyphen. How can I get
Publisher to keep the spaces that I insert when I want a dash?

i.e. "year - Kuebel-treffen " instead of "year—Kuebel-treffen".

oIt is an Auto format option. Go to Tools-AutoCorrect Options. Click on the
AutoFormat As You Type tab. Un-check the 'Hyphens (--) with dash' box.

You can do the same in Word too (Word Options-Proofing- AutoCorrect Options-
uncheck the box that says 'Hyphens (--) with dash'.

Publisher doesn't make a hyphen, it makes an Em Dash (or En Dash, I
forget). It is still a dash. In a fixed-width font the character will
have the same width as a hyphen (due to the nature of the font), but the
line should still be longer (as indeed it does appear on my display of
your message).

That did the trick - thank you Misty.

Misty's did the trick - I am now able to insert spaces before and after the
dashes.

Thanks Ed
