data in various tabs and subforms

I've got a DB setup...various tables

Customers
Contacts
Products & Cust_Products
Calls
and a few other tables

I've basically taken the Contacts (sample) db, modified it, updated, added
to it to suit my needs. My current (most pressing problem) is viewing
Customer Products (that they have purchased) when I call up their record.
I'm using combo-boxes with ALL of the Products in it, but I don't think
that's correct.

What I'm having trouble with is this...
Is it easier or better to design forms to open in Display (or View) mode and
just have buttons to switch between Edit/Add modes?

I know this is vague, but I'm not sure explaining the whole db I have is
going to work (just because of time/space, etc).

I seem to be having most of my problems (I think) because I'm mixing View
with Add/Edits. I can provide much more specific info...but maybe I just
need a consultent.

Thanks...even if it's just to point me in a better direction or place for
this post.
