Data restrictions importing data from Excel to Project?

I have figured out how to import data from an Excel spreadsheet to MS
Project, but I am finding that certain characters in the Excel spreadsheet
seems to cause errors in the import process.

Examples seem to include hash marks (#), question marks (?) and slashes (\,
/).

Can someone point me to a place where all such limitations are documented?

Thank you.

Victor,
It depends on what Project field you are trying to import into. For
example the Task Name, (and generally any other text based field), will
readily accept any of the characters you mention. However, other more
specific fields may or may not accept some of the characters. For
example, a date field will accept date separators ("/") and date
literals (i.e. #7/30/06#), but not a "?" or "\".

I am not aware of any documentation that lists all the limitations but
perhaps there is something somewhere. What specifically are you having a
problem with?
