Data Series Display Order

How can I change the data series display order? I want to specify which data series is "in front" when one or more data points have the same value.

Is this an Excel question? To change the order of a data series in
Excel, right click on the series, then left click on Format -> Selected
Data Series -> Series Order -> Move Up or Move Down.

Actually, it's a Microsoft Graph Object in Publisher. Since the graph object is somewhat generic I decided to ask the question in the Word forum. You solution may work with Excel, the option to change series order does not exist with the Publisher graph object. Changing the order in the input spreadsheet does not seem to affect the result, i.e, certain numerical values at certain places in the series are always "in front" or "in back" of companion series values. Can you suggest another solution?

Sorry, I don't know enough about Microsoft Graph to comment on it. I do
almost all of my graphs in Excel or program called Sigma Plot cuz I
usually have to crunch the numbers a lot before I end up with something
graphable. In Excel, the order of the input spreadsheet DOES dictate
the default order of the series. For example, if you have four series
of data in columns A, B, C, and D, and there are overlapping data points
among some or all of the series, then the column A chart line will be on
top of the column B chart line, B will be on top of C, and D will be on
the bottom. Excel lets you change the default order using Format ->
Selected Data Series -> Series Order. The only thing I don't especially
like about Excel is that if you choose to display a chart legend, the
order of the legend is always "backwards" from the user-specified or
default order (e.g., series D, C, B, and A from left-to-right or
top-to-bottom in the legend box), and you can't change that.
