Data transfer from older works program

We are trying to transfer data from an older machine
(Sony) which was entered with works. The word processing
parts transferred OK, but no spreadsheet data came
through. The files appeared to transfer, but all we get
is the blank spreadsheet framwork. The same is true for
Corel Quattro pro spreadsheet.

Is there an easy fix?

What version of Works and Quattro Pro and what version
of Excel/Office are you using?
