Data View Web Part - conditional formatting

I have a data view web part where I want to set conditional formatting on an
entire row. Basically, if the first column of that row contains the word
'TOTAL', I want the entire row to be italicized and have a background color.
Is there any way to force the conditional formatting to be applied to the
entire row?
