I have built (and will modify to suit) a repository for the metadata behind a
database model: entities, attributes, and relationships - each with their
business definition.
I have also built an Entity-Relationship diagram using the Database Model
Diagram template in Visio 2002 Professional.
I would like to create a (probably one-way) link between the repository so
that when I change the model metadata in the repository, the Visio diagram
would also change, showing the attributes and business definitions.
I have used the Database Export Wizard to export all the drawing details to
a table, but the text names of the entities does not appear in the collection
of data that is exported - much less the list of attributes.
The Help files hint that this might be possible - at least in an
organization-chart sort of way. How can I do this using Entity and
Relationship shapes in a Database Model Diagram?
