Date formatting

I would like to be able to enter 1/2/2005 in a cell and
have the format look like Sun 01/02

I assume I would have to use a custom format for the cell
but am not sure how I could accomplish this. Thanks.

ddd mm/dd

if it is February 1 2005

ddd dd/mm

Go to Format>Cells>Custom and enter "ddd dd/mm" without the quotes
