Dates change when outline is expanded

Does anyone know of a flaw where in a master project, you insert another
project, the dates are populated however when you fold out the outline, the
dates change.
Comments/Suggestions please,

Greg,
This question has been asked a few times in this newsgroup. I don't
remember if the issue was totally resolved - you could search for the
discussion threads.

Some obvious things that might be at play. First, make sure you have the
latest updates to the version of Project you are using? For Project
2003, you need SP2. Second, make sure you have calculation
(Tools/Options/Calculation tab) set for automatic. You also need to
insure that you have a dynamically consolidated master. That is, the
"Link to project" box in the lower right of the Insert Project window
must be checked (it is the default so unless you changed it the box
should be checked).

Something else you should be aware of. When a subproject is dynamically
inserted into a master, the subproject itself does NOT become a part of
the master. Rather, the master only contains a pointer to the actual
subproject. The master however does contain an insertion point summary
line representing the top level summary of the subproject. If you open
a master with the inserted project collapsed, the subproject itself will
not be opened and therefore the insertion point summary line dates will
not update, even if calculation is set for automatic. However, when the
subproject in the master is expanded, then the dates on the insertion
point summary line may change, depending on whether changes were made to
the subproject file since the master was last opened.

Hope this helps.
