Default Animation Speed

Can I set the default animation speed for a specific animation, such as Fade?

In other words, every time I add a Fade transition to a text box or equation, the default speed is Medium. I have to add the transition, wait for the preview, and then select Fast. As I do this for every text box and equation in all of my slides, it becomes tedious.

Hi Sam;

I'm not sure how quickly you need to work :) but I've found that you really
don't need to wait for the effect preview to complete before changing the
speed. There is a slight delay in the response but I can go directly to the
speed control right after selecting the effect.

The only other option I know of is to not choose the effect from the short
list offered in the menu. Instead, select More Effects where you can clear
the Preview checkbox... Problem is that it most likely takes longer to do so
if the effect you want is available in the short list. AFAIK, there is no
option to disable the automatic preview when selecting from the short list.

What you're asking for sounds like a desirable option though, so I'd suggest
you use PPt's Help> Send Feedback to submit it as a feature request. I don't
know that it can be added to 2008 by way of an update but it may make it
into the next release of Office.

Thanks for the quick response. I actually found that out as well, that I can change the speed as the preview is playing. Too bad, I do this all the time and the marginal benefit would really add up.

Do you know if you can disable the animation preview?

Oh, I got sidetracked & forgot to add that I know of no way to modify the
default speeds either. I've tried applying the desired effects in the Slide
Master, but even that doesn't seem to work as I'd hoped.
