Default printer issue

I've noticed that Publisher documents remember the last printer used when
the document was printed or edited. This is only a problem if you use the
print icon on the toolbar. The problem is that I work in an environment
where most people use the print icon. Is there any way of altering this
behaviour? I want the document to recognise the current default printer. Is
this possible?

Thanks in advance

Only by opening the document, changing the printer to the current default,
and saving it.

Hi,
I too am now suffering from the same problem but only since installing
Office 2003 SP2. It is ludicrous to suggest to my 5000+ users to change every
document through page setup to point to the default printer, this was done
automatically before the update!!

I would be very surprised if it was before the update. Publisher has always
saved printer information with the document - a change in the default
printer for me has always left the old printer selected in existing
documents, only in new documents is the updated default printer information
used.

Yes Ed I agree with that, but prior to the update, publisher detected that
the printer associated with the document was not installed (was not the
default for the machine the user was using when the document was created) and
prompted you to select a printer. This according to Microsoft has been
fixed!!! in Service Pack2. This has been fixed in the sense that you are no
longer prompted to associate a printer - it now prints to the printer
associated with the document (see printer icon) regardless of the default
printer - this surely is not a step forward?
