Client: Windows XP SP2 and Outlook XP SP3
Mail Server: Exchange 2003, Windows Server 2003 SP1

Issue...
Internal or External mail sent to me does not appear in my inbox until I
click SEND/RECEIVE or until I click on the inbox folder or in another folder.
If I leave Outlook XP opened, they doe not apper ever. I have to click
somewhere on the screen and then they appear. I have a blackberry and they
do appear in the handheld. Please help. Staff are complaining of delay as
well. I believe the messages are delivered to the Exchange Server but
Outlook is not polling for new message even if I tell out look to check for
new messages every 1 minute. Any suggestions???

Do you also get a message to say that Outlook is trying to connect to the
Exchange Server or its busy etc, is this a recent event, have you changed
any network configuration lately, does it happen to a particular sub section
of users in the same general locale. Have you tried putting the outlook.exe
as an exception in the SP2 firewall.

Yes, on the bottom right hand corner of my screen the send\receive notice
appears but the mail does not appear in the inbox. It only appears in the
inbox when I click on a folder and then click on the inbox. I was incorrect
in my earlier posting when I send if I click on the sent\recevie it displays
in the inbox - it does not. Again, the mail is sent immediately to my PDA
but does not apper in the inbox until I click on a subfolder and then click
the inbox.

Also, I have turned off Windows SP2 firewall option.

What about the question's re network changes, is it all users or just some
in a specific locale, was it happening before the SP1 install on the server.
There is KB that shows how to change the polling method but at the end of
the day it could be a switch going down or blocking UDP packets.

It is all users, even those in our remote sites. We only have one exchange
server. No network changes recently. I will look into the switches blocking
UDP packets. Regarding when this started.. can't say for sure. A while now
and users are just starting to complain. No switches are down.

I found KB Article 839226. I will reivew it and try the registery changes
on a test machine. I will also look at the switches. This is a good start.

If you think of anything else, let me know.

Thanks
JD

It worked!!! As we disable Window Firewall I did not have to add Outlook.exe
to the exeption list. I did make the registery changed as per KB839226 and
it worked immediately!!! Thanks Noel!
