Before tasks can be delegated from one resource to another, the task
assignments will need to be published by the project manager in Microsoft
Project 2002 (Collaborate - Publish - New and Changed Assignments). Once
the task assignments have been published, each team member in that project
will be able to see their tasks on the Tasks page in Project Web Access.
When a resource is assigned to a task that should be delegated to another
team member, he/she should complete the following steps to "hand off" the
task assignment:
1. Log into Project Web Access (PWA)
2. Navigate to the Tasks page in PWA
3. Click the "Delegate tasks" hyperlink in the sidepane on the left
4. Select the task to be delegated on the left side of the timesheet
5. Click the Delegate Task button to display the first step of the Delegate
Tasks Wizard
6. Select a team member from the "Who do you want to delegate this task
to?" list
7. Select "Yes" or "No" in the "Assume the lead role for this task" and
"Track this task on your timesheet" sections
8. Click the Next button
9. On the second step of the Delegate Tasks Wizard, click the Send button
10. When prompted, click the OK button in PWA confirmation dialog box
Once a team member has delegated a task, the delegated task will be shown in
the PWA timesheet with a yellow background and with a special delegation
indicator. If the team member answers "Yes" to the "Assume the lead role
for this task", he/she will have to receive the task updates for this task,
approve them, and then submit them to the project manager for updating into
the project plan. Hope this helps.
