delete footer

How do I delete a pre-existing footer from a page. We are making a poster.
We can go to within 1/4" or less from the top, but the program is forcing us
to leave 1/2" on the bottom. Is this due to our printer, or a problem with
publisher?

This is a limitation of your printer. Due to the mechanism used inside your
printer, it cannot print within ½" of the bottom of the page.

By the way, this is for Publisher 2002

I thought printer limitations would restrict the printing all the way
around, about the same distance. So you're saying that it restricts the
bottom, but not the top? Vary strange.

We have a Lexmark Z22 printer, by the way.

Not really - this is to do with the way the printer holds the paper.

If you picture the rollers on the printer, with the print head moving in
front of it.
At the top of the paper, the rollers have a good hold on the paper, and so
the printer can print close to the edge.
At the edges, the same applies - the only limitation is how far the print
head can move (and also that the printer wants to avoid getting ink on the
rollers and other internal surfaces).
At the bottom, the rollers have to hold on to something. The print head
prints in front of the rollers. As soon as the paper leaves the rollers, it
falls onto the output tray. So you cannot print on an area the distance
between the rollers and the print head target from the bottom edge of the
paper.
