Delete Templates?

Is there a way to edit the file containing the MP 2007 templates so I can
delete all those that I will never use?

Thanks - Dave

Except for those you create yourself, the templates are in a folder similar to
this:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office12\PUBWIZ

I don't know if you can delete them without consequences. You might try renaming
one (.POC) to somthing.old and see what happens.

Just wondering why you would want to delete templates?

Just to simplify and expedite selection. No need for all those "A" formats,
email templates, etc. My major wish is not so much to kill the categories,
but specific templates within them. Oddly, "Delete" is grayed out.

Hey John, Does the Digital Image program have the .mix filters? Can they be
isolated and inserted into the Office filter folder?

Have you tried moving them?
I think sometimes a program will still "find" one of its add-ons even if you
try to disguise it by changing its name -- like it thinks you didn't really
mean to do that!
Of course, if the WIZ has them all built into some sort of start-list it
might complain if it can't find something to match its entry.

Or maybe you could put just the ones you want into your "my templates"
folder -- saved under names of your choosing -- and ignore the built-ins
altogether when you choose a template, just use "my templates."

Hey Mary...

Long reply...I hope it's useful.....

All versions of Digital Image can open
..mix files but I'm not sure which filter it is.

Do you know the name of the filter?

I thought it was 'Fpx32.flt' but that's not on
my system and I can open .mix files in
Digital Image.

However...if I try to insert a .mix file into
a Pub 2007 document or a Word 2007
document......I get the the following dialog:

"An error occurred while importing this file"

So...I guess if you must import a .mix file
into an Office program...you'll have a convert
it to a compatible format...jpg, .png, .tif...

FWIW...if you need to convert some .mix
files...the following tutorial may be useful:

If you still have the Picture It! program
that created the .mix files (or any version
of Picture It! or Digital Image including
the trial version) you can do a batch
reformat using the Mini Lab.

Depending on the memory of your computer
and how it handles resources you may
be limited to converting 50 or so images
in a batch.

If these are single image files created in
MS Picture It! and are not layered projects...
(album pages, greeting cards, collages,
which may produce incorrect colors...etc)
the following info should be useful to you:

The evaluation version of PolyView may allow
you to batch reformat your .mix files.

You can download an evaluation copy at the
following link:

PolyView
www.polybytes.com
(Go to...Downloads / PolyView 4.402 Setup
Program)

When you open PolyView...go to...
File / Format Conversions...

Browse to the folder your .mix files are
saved in and open the drop window and
choose "All Files".

Left click the "Add All" button.

Left click the "Continue" button...

Choose your "Destination Format" JPEG

Choose your JPEG quality...100

Choose a "Destination Folder"...

Left click the "Start" button.

Ok...I was thinking you may have been trying
to free up some HD space and the templates
wouldn't make that much difference.

I suspect the safest route would be to leave
well enough alone...but that's just me...

Good luck finding the solution.
