Deleted Project Shows up in PWA

I have a project that I've been trying to delete from the server. I made a
copy of the project to a .mpp file, then deleted the project and associated
sharepoint site. I then re-imported the project file. When I went into PWA,
it then showed both projects as still being in the system. I deleted the one
I had just imported, but I can't seem to get rid of the "duplicate" project.
It shows up in PWA, but not when I use Project Pro. When I tried using the
project renaming utility, the project is not listed. In PWA, I can view the
Gantt chart, but I can't open the project plan itself. It returns an error
saying that the project is not available.

I tried deleted the duplicate in Admin, but it throws a VBScript error,
stating there was a problem with the operation, but no other detail. I
noticed in the list of projects in the "Clean up project server" that this
particular project is blank in the "Version" column. Is it possible that
this is somehow pointing back to the .mpp file? If so, how can I clean up
the database to get rid of this project so I can get a clean import?

Dan:

It sounds like you may have published assignments from an mpp plan. You
don't mention what version you're using and SP level. This information is
critical to giving you more direction.

Gary,

Thanks for the response. We're on Project Pro 2003 SP1 & Project Server
2003 SP1

Hey Dan,

I am experiencing something similar and have not resolved it (just what you
wanted to hear). When I delete from 'Clean up the project server database' I
indeed get the same VB error with the project now having a blank 'Version'.
But I get this no matter what project I delete, even new ones I just
published. So, maybe there are similarities in something we are doing. I
have not installed SP1, however, mine is an updated 2002 database to 2003. I
used the UPG10DB.CMD utility supplied by Microsoft. I have tried it 3 times
with the same inability to delete projects. One note: If I delete from
Project Pro, I get a message that the project can't be found, but then it
disappears from the File\Open dialog. Strange behavior. Any help from anyone
would be apprectiated.
